I believe that with the right blend of direction, support, and feedback, every individual is uniquely endowed to perform at their highest and best. In my career as a communication specialist, facilitator, consultant, and coach, I have had the opportunity to work closely with individuals and teams across a wide variety of educational and business environments.
In my early career as a Speech Language Pathologist, I worked with individuals and families in clinical, hospital, and educational settings to assess and improve communication skills. My work with graduate students as an instructor and clinical supervisor at the University of Wisconsin and at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI enabled me to lead, train, and mentor clinical fellows in developing their expertise in clinical practice as they pursued the Certificate of Clinical Competence, a national certification from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
Leveraging my background in communication and training, I was successful in transitioning to a career in consulting. My work at management consulting firms in Chicago (Gibson & Associates and Alaris Consulting) allowed me to develop my competence as I trained top level managers in oral presentation skills, facilitation, negotiation, and team building. I was consistently ranked by participants as a top-rated instructor and facilitator and achieved the level of Director before joining MetLife as a Program Manager.
I recently retired from MetLife where I led talent management activities that included designing, developing, and delivering training for managers and associates across the enterprise. In addition, I provided individualized coaching for managers in fulfillment of MetLife’s strategic enterprise goals. Just prior to retirement, I was responsible for providing on-boarding training for hundreds of technical employees as MetLife relocated its Global Technical Organization to Cary, NC.
As I now concentrate on delivering coaching and professional development programs, I’m excited to draw upon my teaching, consulting, and training as a StrengthsFinder Coach to support clients in meeting their goals. I seek to help clients embrace and leverage their talents with a results-oriented approach and a strong focus on implementation.
I received a Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and currently reside in Raleigh, NC with my husband and my beagle, Remy.
